Danilo’s career so far
A strong defender with great experience, racking up almost 250 Serie A appearances during his time with Udinese. During seven seasons in Friuli he always stood out thanks to his character and leadership at the back. He’s a capable right-footed player when on the ball, while impressive conditioning has also allowed him to play at least 32 league games in each season with the Bianconeri.
He joined Udinese in the summer of 2011 as a replacement for Zapata, fresh from a number seasons in the Brazilian league. He made his debut under Guidolin during an exiting time for Pozzo’s men, playing against Arsenal at the Emirates in the Champions League and then in the Europa League. He was a key defensive pillar for the Bianconeri, sometimes as captain, throughout the reins of Stramaccioni, Colantuono, De Canio, Iachini and Del Neri. He mostly featured at the heart of a three-man defence, while also posing an aerial threat in the opposition area. His Udinese spell came to an end in August 2018, as he joined the Rossoblu on a season-long loan deal, containing an obligation to buy should certain conditions be met.
