Erick Pulgar to take part in Copa America with Chile

16 teams will be facing off in a number of venues all over the USA: Friday night the Copa America Centenario will kick-off with an unusual number of contenders and  will be taking place outside of South America. Santa Clara in California will host the opening game of the tournament between the USA and Colombia.

South American champions Chile will be counting on Bologna FC midfielder Erick Pulgar, who at 22-years- old is the youngest member of Juan Antonio Pizzi’s squad. He will fight for a place in the starting XI alongside La Roja veterans Arturo Vidal, Marcelo Diaz, Jean Beausejour, ACF Fiorentina’s Mati Fernandez and Bayer Leverkusen’s rising star Charles Aranguiz. Chile are in Group D and will go head-to-head with Argentina, runners-up in the last edition, in their first match of the tournament on 7th June (04:00 AM CEST), before taking on Bolivia on 11th June (01:00 AM CEST) and Panama on 15th June (02:00 AM CEST). The top two teams in each group will progress to the quarter-finals.

The last Rossoblu player to win the Copa America was Uruguay’s Diego Perez in 2011. Ruso played a pivotal role in La Celeste’s victory and scored the decisive goal against Argentina in the quarter-finals. The whole of the Bologna FC family and fans are behind Erick. He played 684 minutes in 13 appearances during his first season with the Rossoblu.
