Fogli: “I’ve lost a teammate but a great friend above all”
Following the sad death of Marino Perani, we wanted to remember him through the words of those who played with him.
Romano Fogli: “Marino was my teammate but a great friend above all. We arrived at Bologna together in 1958. He came from Atalanta, I came from Torino. The first three years in Bologna we lived together on via Otto Colonne before we both got married and we both bought houses in Piazza della Pace, right in front of the Stadio Comunale. We spent 20 years together on the pitch, first as players and then as coaches working side-by-side in the Rossoblu youth system.”
Franco Colomba: “I’m losing a figure from the changing room, a friend but above all the first coach who really believed in me and gave me the chance to play as a starter. I have a wonderful memory of Marino and I feel a great pain today. I’m abroad at the moment and unfortunately I won’t be able to attend the funeral but my heart will be there, with his wife and children and I send my deepest condolences.”
Eraldo Pecci: “Me and Marino played together at Bologna, he was already the great Perani while I was at the start of my career. I believe that Marino was the most technical player that I ever knew. He was a marvellous athlete and I think he won less than he deserved. He was part of the marvelous side which won the Scudetto in 1964, a group which is slowly leaving us and it’s a real shame because they were a humble group who left a great memory for all of us.”
