Lyanco’s career

A tough centre-back of Serbian origin, Lyanco came through at Botafogo before making his debut for the Paulista side in July 2015, just after turning 18. He immediately became an important player, showing character, composure, timing and a good understanding of the game. He also showed good technical ability, allowing him to build from the back and he was rewarded by the Argentine coach Bauza who used him almost always. For the Brazil Under-20 side, he impressed two years ago in Ecuador at the South American U-20 Championship with his vision that was more reminiscent of a midfielder than a stopper. That earned him a move to Sinisa Mihajlovic’s Torino side, who won the race for his signature ahead of many other European sides. Performances for the Primavera side saw him make his senior debut in September 2017 but an injury to his left foot curtailed his first season. In previous months, he made two appearances for Torino in the league and as many in the Coppa Italia. In January 2019, he joined Bologna on loan and he’s the 22nd Brazilian to play for the Club.
