Stadium: Council responds to Bologna

Following the letter sent to Mayor Viginio Merola from President Joey Saputo on February 23rd, in which the club expressed their interest in modernising the Stadio Dall’Ara, Bologna council have today issued the following press release:

Bologna Mayor, Virginio Merola has responded to the expression of interest received on February 23rd from Bologna FC 1909 President, Joey Saputo. In the letter sent to President Saputo, the Mayor revealed his satisfaction and active interest in the determination shown by Bologna FC 1909 to swiftly begin the modernisation of the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Whilst this would importantly add value to the architectural structure of the city, it could also provide substantial improvements to the surrounding area of the stadium. Furthermore, a fundamental aspect of the letter from Bologna is that they demonstrate an objective that coincides with that of the Council and also the city. This is the start of an operation that encourages radical regeneration of the areas surrounding the stadium and also the West Zone of Bologna, which are both included in the city plan for the road system.

The advanced proposal put forward by Bologna FC 1909 is related to Law 147/2013, which is linked directly to the strategic areas that the City Council have already included in the ‘Town business plan for the regeneration of public land” approved by the City Council in March 2016.
