Stefan Posch joins Bologna

Bologna Fc 1909 are delighted to announce the signing of defender Stefan Posch on an initial loan deal from TSG Hoffenheim until 30 June 2023 with a view to making the transfer permanent upon certain conditions being met.

The fifth Austrian in Bologna’s history, Stefan is a strong 25-year-old centre-back capable of playing in the middle or on the right of a three-man backline. A quick player who is good at marking and anticipating the ball, Posch already has a solid amount of European experience. At international level, after making his debut for Austria aged 22, he’s been a regular for his country since 2019.

After developing at Admira Wacker, a team from Mödling, he became part of Hoffenheim’s U19 team in August 2015. He started to make the step up and continued to get more and more minutes under his belt for the German side, who came third in the Bundesliga in 2018 and have regularly achieving top-half finishes in recent years. In the last three seasons, Posch has played on a consistent basis, with over 2000 minutes to his name and appearances in the Champions League and Europa League to boot. After 126 matches for Hoffenheim, his adventure with the Rossoblù is now beginning.
